Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council’s annual Black History Month event
Black History Month has become an established part of Neath Port Talbot’s cultural calendar. For this year’s theme – “Our Stars, Our Future, Our History” – we aim to showcase the talent in our authority and to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our Black Minority Ethnic (BME) pupils and Black people locally, nationally and on the global stage.
Black History Month (BHM) in Wales acknowledges the contributions by Black people to local, national and world history and culture. It delivers an informative educational and celebratory programme traditionally during the month of October. In Wales, we celebrate September to November. Black History Month allows us to participate in Britain’s rich and diverse history, irrespective of ethnicity and allows us to appreciate and recognise the many important and positive contributions made over the years by Black and Ethnic Minority communities.
