BHM North-West Wales launch event
Most activities will take place at Storiel, in Bangor (Gwynedd’s art gallery and museum). 10am to 4pm, with a drumming performance and capoeira demonstration by Bangor town clock at midday. The official launch will be conducted by the Bangor mayor. Activities will include a variety of drumming performances (originating from different African, Caribbean and South American backgrounds). Caribbean and African food tasting by Maggie Ogunbanwo.
Join us in celebrating the history, culture and contributions of people of Black-African and African Caribbean in events, educational and creative activities all across Wales.
To celebrate BHMW 2017, the theme for the year is: “OUR STARS. OUR FUTURE. OUR HISTORY’’
The Black History Wales network is made up of over 104 pan-Wales organisations such as; youth charities, grassroots groups, schools, Further Education and Higher Education institutions representing people of different cultures, faiths and geographical locations who sit on our steering committee. These include Amgueddfa Cymru/ Museum Wales; African Community Centre – Wales; Cardiff and Bangor Universities; Schools; Minority Ethnic Achievement Support (MEAS) Team; Neath Port Talbot CBC; The Cardiff Volunteer Centre @C3SC; Jamaican Society; Wales Millennium Centre, Barnardos Cymru, National Assembly for Wales and Trade Unions in Wales to name a few.
